The Hero

Now I am looking at the Hero aspect of Myth around the world. The hero you think of is generally big strong and capable of super human feats. However,t many times they are the stories of people on a mission of self discovery. People who make a mother load of mistakes and unfortunately it is their colleagues that suffer the most from these and in turn they are forced to deal with great loss and suffering. heroes are not always one sided goodie goodies, take Arjuna the Hindu prince who was an amazing soldier and archer yet despised the killing he did sometimes to his own family. or Odysseus who was not super human at all, but in fact cunning.Whatever the case they had a journey they had to travel before they could learn the lessons we take from them now so many years later.

[Les Miserables] 10th anniversary - The Confrontation

Les Miserables - On My Own

Les Mis

Well Last night I spent three hours watching the LesMis 25th anniversary performance on PBS. I have seen this show five times, in San Fransisco, New York, and in Boston. I loved this show, and to see it last night with the new format was amazing, not to thrilled with the new cast the drug up, a freaking Jonas Brother should never be in Les Mis!! I am a total sap and i love it, I couldn't believe I remembered all the damn songs.
This musical is so amazing, and something everyone can relate to in some manner, looking for redemption, freedom, revenge, love whatever it is in this musical. For you folks who might be even more daring read the book!!Truly an amazing tale, seeing how one mans life is effected by his decisions and how those decisions effect so many others.
If you aren't a musical fan well, sod off!! the next few pics and clips are from this amazing show, well actually from the better shows with better singers!LOl!

The Cosmic Egg and the World Serpent

Well i have been looking into mythologies lately, and seeing the similarities across the spectrum. The first one is the cosmic Egg idea of creation. A giant egg out there waiting to open and create the heavens and the earth, and then the creators emerging to then create the gods and then to populate the earth. The Cosmic egg has traditions in China, ,The Dogon people of Africa, Aztecs and many of the Pacific Island tribes have this myth.
Another world creator that is spread across the earth is that of the World Serpent, this exists in Egyptian Mythology, Greek, Australian and many African myths.Thor once while fishing pulled up the great World Serpent in Norse myth. The Hindu God Vishnu rests on the Serpent Ananta when serpent appears from his navel the flower opens and the creator god Brahma appears inside.

One Week

In one week, life as I have known it, will be completely different. I am very excited for the new possibilities, challenges and the sense of adventure it brings. However there are some major drawbacks. Here are some pics of my greatest work of art and the greatest thing to ever happen in my life.
