One Week

In one week, life as I have known it, will be completely different. I am very excited for the new possibilities, challenges and the sense of adventure it brings. However there are some major drawbacks. Here are some pics of my greatest work of art and the greatest thing to ever happen in my life.

Return to Neverworlds

Well the time has come to return to Neverworlds.Bring on the Lost boys and Pirates, the faeries and storytellers, card readers, and belly dancers. But most of all light up the dream tree, set off your imagination and open your heart to any possibility that may present itself if only for three days in the shadow of Mt. Pisgah.
I am very excited to say the least, and there is a lot to get done over the next few months. But I am so lucky to have the help of amazing friends to design and bring this thing to life. You have no idea how wonderful it is to just create with friends, a place like this, and then try to make it become something real. Truth be told its the only way anything like this can become reality, by sharing in the primordial milky soup of creativity, that something far greater than you ever anticipated can come out. Thank you everyone for all the help and continued craziness that will grow out of this.
This year we will be adding some fun new areas including a Tea Party and a Gypsy Circle with story tellers and fortune tellers, not to mention circus school and treasure hunts with the Lost Boys, and fun Eco friendly crafts at the Indian encampment!! Oh yeah and a huge freaking pirate ship stage!! so much to do !!

A new book of creatures, gods and godesses.

A few years ago i started a book of illustrations of fae creatures, mainly from Europe, that really got me started on my current artistic bent towards the folklore of the world. Now i am starting a new book, that will focus on the folklore of Asia and the pacific islands. I am finding i can easily do a book on just one country, the stories and spirits, gods, and other inhabitants in these stories are amazing. The first book took about a year to finish hopefully this one wont take so long. Here are some pics from the first book i did, and the first pic from the second. This is drawing of Hanuman a character that is the depiction of loyalty and companionship.

Simplify

It has been a long time since my last post. and I have been doing a great deal of trying to simplify my life. I have done things I am amazed at, getting rid of my movies, CDs, treasured toys, and even I cant belive this most of my books. I am so sad!! However it is all for the good.
I have reliazed I dont need much, just a roof (a small one at that) and plenty of paper so I can draw dream and create, and on occasion let a few friends come by to visit. Here are a few pics of what Id like that to become.

Decisions decisions

I have been gone from this site far to long, and more than a little has happened. Number one I have officially been divorced, FW has happened and gone somewhat smoothly. I am currently in the midst of perhaps the worst two weeks of my existence. A lot depends on the decisions I will make over the next couple of weeks.
I will be leaving a relationship that has been on for half of my life, the relationship was over long ago, but there are pieces of it that will be with me forever. Secondly i will have to say good by to my daughter. Madeline has been my life and essentially my best Friend for the past seven years. This Friday night we tell her what has happened and that we are divorced, that I will in fact at some point be leaving. The idea of this kills me, the hurt that I will be causing my little girl makes me essentially crumble. I know this has to happen and that children are resilient. but it doesn't take away my hurt or my sense of failure as a father. Thirdly I have to make the move away from her. I haven't been more than a few days away from my girl and the idea of only seeing her alternate weekends is a knife in my heart. However I know I need to move on to set up my life on my own and become what I am meant to be, that can only happen if I can distance myself from the life I have now. Lastly i need to open myself up to others, to let them in and help me when i need it. I am scarred stiff to be honest and confused I don't want to hurt anyone else in the midst of all this. I want the new start. I want to see what can happen. I hope i haven't screwed it up before it could properly begin.

I'm tired

Neverland, FW and wtf am I doing here!

Well It has been a month since I have written last, and one hell of alot has happened. The Neverland adventure is now in full swing, to be honest as much as this opportuntiy is quite possibly one of the biggest leaps I have ever taken, it is equally as terrifying as it is invigorating. I have put alot into this event and there is no way it would be progressing this well without the tremendous help I am getting from like minded fae lovin friends.

My dream for Neverland is that it will be something far different than anything FW has seen, an dthat hopefully it will grow into something of its own. The Neverlands mean quite a bit to me, I have lived in this land for the most part of the last year, and thru no forthought of my own I was given the chance to make it a reality.

To try and explain how important the Neverland is to me, would be like trying to build a skyscraper out of macaroni. Neverland is a place built on the dreams of children. A place of wild possibilities and a place you are always free, anything can happen, and that is what I would like people to feel at Neverworlds. You could be swept away by pirates, taught to juggle with the lost boys, blow insane bubbles with the mermaids, make the dream tree glow with your own dreams, and dance at the faerie revels till you are floating above the trees, with whoever it is that makes your soul fly.

This dream is becoming a reality for me, and as it aproaches, my heart races and my mind goes nuts. Quite the adventure for a guy that feels like the pan himself, most of the time. Im not even worried about my booth, I dont care if I make a bloody cent, (i havent really ever made money anyway!)I just want to see people laugh and have fun, to leave the real world at the gate and just let go!!

I have two months to pull this thing off. Most of it seems to be goin well thanks to the help of my friends who really are the back bone to this whole dream. I want this to be a COMF family affair, as many of the COMF folk as can help or be a part of it will be there. I am putting everything i have into this and now I am looking ahead to when it is all over. When the mast is packed away, The Tipi taken down and the final light taken from the dream tree. I will be standing in that feild alone, just like last year, knowing it will be another full year at the least, till I can truely feel the Neverworlds, wishing I could just really take off to that second star to the right, cuz this world is no place for me.
I need the awfully big adventure!:)

You can tell a lot about a person by their room.

If you take a look at my room you will find out almost everything you could ever want to know about me. It is filled with books, silly art and a ton of movies. For some their room might be strictly functional a sleep only kind of deal, for me it is my sanctuary. Contrary to popular belief I am nowhere near the outgoing pirate most see at festivals or events.
So my room, then becomes my fortress of solitude. Books, comics graphic novels, movies and music have always been my fall back when art cant quite calm the demons in my head. They always remain the same, never change yet you can always gain new insight from them no matter how many times you have read or heard them. I Love to surround myself with these old friends to see them lined or stacked up is an extreme comfort to me.
My room is also covered in the art that inspires or intrigues me. It pushes me to to try more, even if no one ever sees the outcome. I love candles and muted lights that cast crazy shadows all over the room at night, with all the sculptures and odd bits of junk it gives a wonderful sense that anything could be lurking about in this odd little menagerie of monsters , stuffed animals and toys of mine.
I am a solitary person who doesn't do well with others, I talk, really talk to maybe three people in this world and not a one of them live anywhere near me. I'd like to think someday I will open up to folks but I doubt that will happen, I do better living alone in my room with my books, my music, my art.
When you see me at an event understand what you see is just a small part of me i let out every now and again. I love to play , i live for it, that chance to get out and make people laugh and enjoy the general mayhem of the festival when it sall over, I will walk home alone because that is what I understand, debauchery when called for and solitude in between.
I must go Mr. Barrie is calling me back to the Neverlands, I have a funny little goblin waiting for me with a bottle of rum.
